With reference to Colonial Office printed
letter No. 54001/39 dated June 10th, concerning
an application by a Japanese Company to conduct
salvage and breaking-up operations on a wreck in
Hong Kong waters, I amcommanded by My Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for
the information of the Secretary of State for the
Colonies, that Their Lordships are of the opinion
that it is desirable, in the circumstances, to
authorise the Governor to refuse the requested
permission unless serious legal or other objections
are seen against this course.
